A little prince in the cake shop.

I was on my evening walk, to a nearby park .I happened to pass a cake shop. I halted a bit, having a look at the cakes.Just in front of the shop sat a homeless lady asking for alms, with a 5 year old child. The child would run into the shop ,look at the cakes and would look at the storekeeper.I heard him ask a man."Uncle, cake", pointing to a chocolate cake piece .The man looked sympathetic. But he went on with his business. The child looked very sad and I felt sorry for him.By then a lady customer took pity on the child and bought him the cake .I thought the child would now gobble the cake .But to my surprise he waited ,was thankful to the lady. Even though he had the cake in a paper plate in his hand, he said "spoon , spoon".the shopkeeper smiled and passed him a spoon. Wow, this boy had class. Even though he was homeless and had shabby clothes,he had admirable qualities. Yes ." A little prince on the street" ,I muttered as the child ran joyfully to his mom.How good is that for Christmas season.

Something important

Several months back , I read an interview of a woman who was going through a very hard time. She said in it ,the only regret in her life was, she couldn't spend enough time with her father and he passed away. I am grateful that , I listened to her .And tried to spend a bit of time with my sick father.Though very meagre and may be sometimes few minutes a day .But still very less ;for which I feel bad. So someone hearing ,please spend time with your old parents. For one day they will be gone and we will wish we had spent more time with them.

Uncle , really

This is the second time, 2 different young women in their early twenties ask me "Uncle, is the busstop here or does this number bus, stop here". I just nod .hmmm.
Ok,  let me focus on the positive .To them I appear as a dignified approachable gentleman and no, I am not old to be  their uncle.I am just 33.

What I want for Christmas

Hey, Santa
I ve been a good boy.
I had a bit of mischief.
But you know I am a good lad.

All I want for Christmas
Is to tell the King
To pass a kiss for me
To my old man
My Darling Papa

A Kiss on his forehead
And tell that I love him
And I will do him proud
And I will see him oneday.

But for now  I sing Happy Christmas
Dear Santa,
This is all I want for Christmas.

"Katrina" means pure

Ride for doggies

Another act of love and kindness.

I am in Bangalore in the outskirts of the city, which is not a very posh area. There are quite a few stray dogs around this part. They move in groups of 3 or 4 and can be bit scary .But they don't harm people but I try to avoid them.
The other day I saw a man ,who drives a moped two wheeler.giving one of these dogs a ride in his moped. The dog was excited and so were the other dogs.they ran after his two wheeler very happily. It was such a sport for them.
My friends told me it was a usual thing .He gives a ride to a dog from time to time ,around the block.and rest run wagging their tails after the moped .And they are so happy and love him.I thought to myself what a lovely man . especially when people don't have time for others. I felt a bit small before this man.

The sweet maker

Another sweet experience of human kindness.Last evening, I was on the streets of Bangalore having a walk.I happened to pass a sweet maker. He makes jilebys. An orange coloured Indian sweet ,for people who haven't heard of it.They looked very tempting.I have been trying to cut on my sugar and I asked him for one piece. This guy was a poor man but looked very hard working .He said he won't sell a single piece but only as a dozen or so.But then he looked at me ,saw my disappointment and smiled .He gave me a single piece and said that's all right. He had twinkling eyes and I could see love and warmth of the person .We don't speak the same language yet he gave away a hard made sweet for free. In the end munching the jileby I was wondering ,which was sweeter the jileby or that man's warm gesture.

Pocket sized angel

Last night(October 3) I was at Bangalore railway station on my way home after an interview. It was raining and the stairs were slippery . And I slipped and lost balance.luckily a young woman/ girl behind me seeing me slip tried to grab my shoulder .But since I was too big for her she couldn't grip me.But it helped me gain enough balance to latch on to the side railing. And I avoided the fall.meanwhile trying to help me the poor girl's hand was bit hurting and she was in mild discomfort.I said thank you and sorry to her and she replied" that's okay". Humbling and comforting to know God's angels are everywhere guarding us.This time a pocket sized one and I am twice her size.yet she was able to help me.
The moral I learned
Help can come from the smallest or humblest sources.respect everyone and stay humble.you can fall however big you are.

The Fugitives

Was watching on TV the other day.The movie Fugitive starring Harrison Ford was on.I remember first watching it when I was 10 years old with my Dad at the movies. The first English movie I saw.Dad can't watch it anymore. A poem suddenly came to my mind.here goes.

The Fugitives

In a way we are all
Fugitives in life.
Fugitive from the day we are born
Fugitives  for love
Fugitives for  acceptance
Fugitives for family
Fugitives for wealth
Fugitives for sex
Fugitives for power
Fugitives from Death
But we are finally caught
Yet we can escape in the end
For one man stood his ground
At the cross  and we can hope in that.

The baby is born

hurrah hurrah hurrah
the baby is born
the sweet one of heaven
for beggars on this world
for we are no longer beggars
but princes through this King
hurrah hurrah hurrah
the baby is born
in the city of bread
as the living bread
come lets eat this bread
and gobble the wine
and let us shout of joy
for we will live forever
hurrah hurrah hurrah
the baby is born
love love love
to each and every soul
for the baby of perfect love is born
hurrah hurrah halleluiah
